Poem: Peace Forever

I lay down silently on my bed,
My cat purring beside me,
Sleeping soundly.

I’ve been living in this old wooden house for years.
Deep in the thick forest,
Where no one knows where,
Except my family.

My only companion is Tibby,
My old faithful cat,
It’s fur is thick and white in colour.

My gaze falls out,
The forest that lays many secrets,
That no one knows.

I look at myself,
My skin is full of wrinkles,
All eaten by time,
Beauty never lasts,
It’s only skin deep.

Sometimes, I feel lonely,
No human companion beside me,
To express my feelings.

My children seem to have forgotten me,
They never visit for years,
I cry every night when I think about them.

When they were still young and cute,
And I would play with them all day,
My worries seem to disappear when I’m with them,
Laughing all the way,
Just hoping that I would see them again before I leave this world.

Suddenly , I heard a knock on the door,
I wonder who could that be,
My weak, thin legs carry me to the door,
And when I open the door,
I see my children before my eyes.

And I welcome them with,
Open hands and skin to skin,
Tears fell down my cheeks,
I was overjoyed.
And on that night,
I rested in peace forever …
